Wanda R. Ventura 1943-2026
NILES — Wanda R. Ventura, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 20, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Wanda was born March 13, 1943, in Warren, a daughter of the late Howard and Thelma Richards Shaffer. She grew up in the area and graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1961, remaining a proud lifelong resident of Niles.
Wanda began her working years at Niles Bank and later found a job she truly loved as a bus driver for Fairhaven School. She took great pride in safely transporting the children each day and treasured the relationships she formed through her years of service.
A member of the Daughters of Rebekah, Wanda lived a quiet life centered on her family, simple joys and the comfort of home. She loved to read, relax and spend time on her porch, where many conversations, laughs and memories were shared with family, friends and neighbors. More than anything, Wanda will be remembered for her steady presence, her caring heart and the deep love she held for those closest to her.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Sam M. Ventura Jr., whom she married Dec. 10, 1971; her daughters, Michele Wodogaza of Niles and Tracy Ventura (Clinton Weber), also of Niles; and her treasured granddaughter, Sage Fall, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jason Wodogaza; and her brother, Howard Shaffer.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the noon service at Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kerr Cemetery.
