Marlene M. Stanko 1942-2026

NILES — Marlene Marie “Marli” Stanko, 83, passed away peacefully at her residence Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.

She was born July 24, 1942, in Warren, the daughter of Samuel and Nicolette DeCato Latrecchia.

Known affectionately as “Marli” to her family and friends, she lived her life rooted in the Catholic faith and carried herself with warmth, creativity and a giving spirit.

A gifted and successful hairdresser, Marli owned and operated four salons throughout her career, with her last and most cherished being Marli’s Hair Affair, before she retired. She touched countless lives through her work, her artistry and her uplifting presence.

In retirement, Marli continued to pour her energy into the things she loved. She invested in local real estate and enjoyed gardening, painting, coloring and baking, hobbies that reflected her vibrant personality and love for beauty.

Above all, Marli’s greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great’grandmother. Her family was the heart of her life.

Marli is survived by her two sons, Ronald “Chip” Stanko and his wife, Sherri of Niles, and Rodney Stanko of Niles; her daughter, Laura Kuriatnyk of Niles; her six grandchildren, Nathan (Hollie) Stanko, Marli (Rich) Upshire, Nicholas (Melanie) Stanko, Chelsea Stanko, Kory Kuriatnyk and Kennedy Stanko; and her two great’grandchildren, Cole Upshire and Liam Stanko. She also leaves behind a dear family friend, George Kuriatnyk.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Ronald L. Stanko Sr., whom she married Jan. 24, 1960. He passed away Aug. 23, 2025.

As per Marli’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
