Eli J. Byler 1949-2026

CHAMPION — Eli J. “Bim” Byler, 76, of Champion, formerly of Mesopotamia, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born April 15, 1949, in Middlefield, the son of John and Mary Detweiler Byler.

He was a member of the Amish Old Order Church # 103 B.

He worked for Johnson Rubber for many years and then for the Haven Safe Farm.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alta Troyer Byler; children, Mary Ann Byler, Aden Byler, Betty Ann Miller, Jon Jon Byler and Sara Jane Kuhns; his siblings, John Byler, Sarah Fisher, Emma Byler-Durham and Esther Ricer; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Dan, Jake and Andy Byler.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 6491 Downs Road, Champion. Visitation will be anytime until the morning of the service. Burial will be in Prentice Road Cemetery, Champion.
