Sherry J. Marino 1948-2025

NILES — Sherry Janette Marino, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a short illness. Sherry was born on July 7, 1948, in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of James T. and Loretta Parish Holbrook, and remained a lifelong resident of the community.

A 1966 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Sherry went on to graduate from the John Long Beauty School of Cosmetology. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Women’s Auxiliary Chapter 11 of Trumbull County. Locally, she was affectionately known as the “Deli Queen,” having served the community for many years at the deli counter of Gelsomino’s Niles Sparkle Market.

Sherry cherished her family above all else. She loved family get-togethers, Sunday dinners and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. A diehard Cleveland Cavaliers fan, she watched nearly every game. She also cheered enthusiastically for the Cleveland Browns and her hometown Niles McKinley Red Dragons. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling.

Sherry is survived by the love of her life, Robert L. Marino Sr. She leaves behind three children, Robert L. (Amy), Eric (Vicki) and Jamie (Mark); and her brother, Terry Holbrook. She was the proud “Nonie” to five grandchildren, Robert J. (Kylee), Sarah (Ryan), Katie (Anthony), Kristan (John) and Emily; and three great-grandchildren, Amari, Giovanni and Roman.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Tristan Lee Marino; and her son, Brian Patrick Marino, who passed away recently on Dec. 11, 2025.

At her request, a private family funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Darrell Cline of the Evening Light Apostolic Church.

Burial took place in Kerr Cemetery.

Sherry would be honored if you would remember her by making a donation to Niles Community Services, 401 Vienna Ave. #2, Niles, OH 44446.
