Phillip G. Mansell 1938-2026

HOWLAND — Phillip Glenn Mansell, 87, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at Shepherd of the Valley-Howland, after a long bout with cancer.

He was born July 15, 1938, in Warren, to the late Glenn A. Mansell and the late Martha L. Moore Mansell. He grew up in Lordstown and was a 1956 graduate of Lordstown High School.

Phil married his wife, Ilene G. Gourley Mansell, on Feb. 25, 1961. Ilene passed in August 2021 at the age of 79. Now reunited, may they both rest peacefully together.

Phil lived a full life with many friends and numerous accomplishments. He was a proud veteran with B Company, 778th Tank Bn, U.S. Army Reserve, honorably discharged in 1967 as a sergeant first class (SFC). In the 1960s, he worked in local businesses, including Sanitary Dairy and the mills of American Welding and Manufacturing Co. and Alcan Aluminum. Ultimately, he worked for General Motors at the Lordstown Assembly Plant for over 31 years, retiring in September 2002. Additionally, he was the manager for Howland Mobile Home Park where he and Ilene resided for nearly 60 years.

Phil leaves behind two sons and their families, Lonnie and Gina Black Mansell of Sierra Vista, Arizona, with a stepson, stepdaughter and eight step-grandchildren in Arizona and Texas; and Marc and Jacinda Gilmore Mansell, with a grandson, Moss Mansell of Norfolk, Connecticut; two brothers and their families, Duane Mansell of Lordstown, and Gary and Suzanne Mansell of Middletown; and sister-in-law, Arlene Gourley Dawson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.

Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery next to his beloved Ilene.

They would also like to thank the team of Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care for their support in the short month prior to his passing.
