B. Corella Shockey 1931-2025

She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Ellamore, W.Va., a daughter of the late George Osburn and the late Myrtle Watts Osburn.

Corella and her late husband, James, worked together as an over-the-road truck driving team. They also owned and operated the C&J General Store on state Route 305 in Bazetta.

They were members of the “Good Sam” camping club and they helped organize the “Samborees” for 13 years.

Corella attended Cortland Trinity Baptist Church in Cortland.

She is survived by her son-in-law, James (Meg) Robinson; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Violet Osburn of Marana, Arizona.

In addition to her parents, Corella was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 69 years, James Lawson Shockey, whom she married on May 11, 1948; three sons, Victor, James and Edward Shockey; brother, George Osburn; sister, Lula May (Paul) Woodring; three daughters-in-law, Valarie Shockey, Linda Robinson and Gayle Shockey; and two grandsons, Charlie Robinson and Donald Tate.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., with one hour of calling prior to the service on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Friends may also call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at the funeral home.

Entombment will be in the Crown Hill Burial Park.

Material contributions may be made to Cortland Trinity Baptist Church in her memory.
