Anthony Grayson Jr. 1937-2025
WARREN — Anthony Grayson Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 2, 1937, in Campbell, a son of Anthony Grayson Sr. and the late Mary Litch Grayson.
Anthony was a proud graduate of Maplewood High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Republic Steel after 28 years of dedicated service and went on to work as a mechanic for Miller Yount Paving for 55 years, where he became known for his skill, work ethic and devotion to his craft.
Lovingly nicknamed “Mr. Fix It” by his wife, Anthony could repair just about anything. He loved working with his hands, creating small craft projects for his family and always found joy in sharing his creations with those he loved most. His yard was his pride and joy — he was meticulous about mowing and caring for it and, even in his later years, he took great pride in keeping it looking perfect.
Anthony grew up skating and square dancing, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Marcellene. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion and music. He often serenaded her with his favorite song, “I love you, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”
In his younger years, he was an avid snowmobiler and loved spending time outdoors. Above all, Anthony was a family man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose love for his family guided everything he did. His hardworking spirit and gentle heart will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
Anthony was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church, Warren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marcellene Grayson of Warren; daughters, Kelley (John) Baumiller of Hartford, and Tracey (Pasquale) Gabriele of Fowler; son, David (Lisa) Grayson of Cortland; sisters, Catherine Davis and Mary Ann Popowich; grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison, Hunter, Taylor, Lauren, Meghan and Lee; and great-grandchildren, Rosalyn, Emalyn, Colton, Bryson, Wesley and Emersyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret; and brother, Joseph Grayson.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Jim Dittmar will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Anthony is now in Heaven, free from pain and once again joyfully mowing his perfect lawn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make any memorial contributions to the Bazetta Fire Department, 3000 Warren Meadville Road, Cortland, OH 44410, for all the assistance they gave to the Grayson family over the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
