W. Anne Schweinfurth 1926-2025

CLEVELAND — W. Anne Schweinfurth, 98, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025.

Anne was born in 1926 in Marion, the daughter of Thomas English Reed Sr. and Blanche Estelle Blanchard Reed.

Anne met her future husband, Robert Wilfred Schweinfurth, in the band at Marion Harding High School. They were married in 1949 and had 59 years together before Robert’s passing in 2008. Anne graduated from Miami University with a degree in business administration. Following graduation, she was employed as the business manager at Hughes Photography in Marion.

Anne was a devoted mother managing the home while Robert pursued a management career at Ohio Edison for 38 years. In addition to raising her four children, Anne was an active member and leader in various nonprofit organizations in the Warren and Howland community, including Howland Schools PTO; Warren Women’s Club; Trumbull County Republican Women’s Club; Salvation Army; Easterseals; Trumbull Town Hall; Warren Civic Music Association; the Upton House; Trumbull New Theatre; Warren Library Association; and the Guardian Angel program in Trumbull County Probate Court. Anne also volunteered as a Master Gardener through the Ohio State Cooperative Extension Program and taught gardening skills to the students at H.C. Mines Intermediate School in Howland.

Anne was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Warren and enjoyed attending the Chautauqua Institution for a week each summer in Chautauqua, New York.

She always loved dogs, treasured her family, loved hosting friends and enjoyed volunteering, traveling, camping, reading, playing bridge and gardening.

Anne believed that love was best demonstrated by rolling up your sleeves and helping with your hands and your heart — and offering some of her baked goods didn’t hurt either.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant daughter, Sheryl Anne. She is survived by sons, Dodd Schweinfurth (Carol) of New Orleans and Bill Schweinfurth (Sharon Southard) of Rochester, New York; and by daughters, Heidi Slagle (Jim) of Northfield and Julie Imbler (Jim) of Littleton, Colorado.

Anne also is survived by six grandchildren, Rob, Chris and Elizabeth Imbler and Lauren Slagle Hughes (Adam), Betsy Slagle Ruffell (Steve) and Emily Slagle; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Elliot.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library-Howland Branch and the Warren Salvation Army.

Family and friends may call 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Warren Women’s Club, 708 N. Park Ave., Warren, OH 44483, with a celebration of life service and reception to immediately follow.
