Robert Lee Armstrong II 1946-2025

NILES — Robert Lee Armstrong II, 79, passed away peacefully into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 31, 1946, in Warren, the son of the late Robert Lee Armstrong Sr. and Deloris June Morrow Armstrong.

Bob had lived in Niles since 1972, and was formerly of Southington, where he graduated from Chalker High School in the Class of 1965. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1970 and was a member of the Red Horse Battalion 554th during Vietnam. He worked as a machine operator at Packard Electric for over 31 years, retiring in 1997.

Bob was a member of the Praise Assembly of God in Niles and the UAW Local 1714. He loved fishing, camping, traveling, his grandchildren and watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians and Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Deloris “Dee” Carr, and Margaret Taylor; and one brother, Paul Armstrong.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Armstrong III of Farmdale, Brian Armstrong and Mark Armstrong, both of Salem; two sisters, Debra and Larry Bailey of Hickory, North Carolina, and Sharon and Tim O’Malley of Niles; two brothers, Ted and Marcia Armstrong of Leavittsburg, and Stanley Alan and Jeri Lynn Armstrong of Howland; one sister-in-law, Karen Armstrong of Southington; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Mashburn officiating, where calling hours will also be held one hour prior to service time, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Cremation will follow the service.

He will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Warren.
