Mary N. McWreath 1949-2025

BOARDMAN — Mary N. McWreath, 76, of Boardman, and formerly of Vienna, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Mary was born Aug.14, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of Florence and John Rethage.

Mary completed her high school education in Pennsylvania, and began her nursing career as an LPN in 1983. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures — whether it was a trip to the casino, a night of bingo, a full day of shopping or an evening out with friends. She loved listening to oldies, cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and filling every room with her spirited personality. Though full of spice, Mary loved deeply and had a tender heart, especially for her cherished Yorkie, Kaden (also known as her favorite child). Above all, she treasured her family, always putting them first and savoring every moment spent together. Mary’s love, laughter and light will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

After a life devoted to her family, Mary has gone home to be with the Lord, where she now joins hands once more with her beloved husband, Larry. Their love story continues in eternity, together again as they were always meant to be.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her dear siblings, Florence Wilding and Donald Rethage.

She will be remembered by her children, Larry J. McWreath of Liberty and Valarie (David) Langenheim of Boardman; grandchildren, Larry J. McWreath Jr., Tabitha (Zachery) Vitko and Kevin (Bailee) McWreath; and great-grandchildren, Willow, Owen, Lukas and Claire. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Joe (Sandy) Rethage, Chris (Mary Jane) Rethage and David Rethage; sister, Nancy (Rocky) Hill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Family and friends gathered over the weekend to honor Mary and she was laid to rest in Howland Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Mary’s name, to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org.
