Mary Ann Omerzo 1939-2025
CORTLAND — Mary Ann Omerzo, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Hospice House in Poland.
She was born Jan. 20,1939, in Acosta, Pa., the daughter of Michael and Mary Grzybek Fotta.
Mary Ann was a member of Queen of Holy Rosary Church in Vienna. She volunteered in the kitchen for all the food and bake sales.
She retired from Packard Electric.
She took pride in her award-winning garden and yard, where she spent many joyful hours watching her flowers grow. As an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, she enjoyed cheering on her teams. Sundays were for dinner with her family and watching the games.
Mary Ann was well known for her connections with her customers at the Country Fair in Howland, working beside her daughter, Michaelene. Everyone who patronized the store knew and loved her.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Michaelene (Butch) Omerzo of Cortland; son, Robert Omerzo of Cortland; sisters, Michaelene (Tony) Kozola, Angie (Terry) Griffith and Phyllis (Mario) Mendez; a brother, Michael Fotta; two grandchildren, Nicole (Anna) Brown and BreAnn (Tim) Melago; three great-grandchildren, Paisley, Marlee and Luke; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Omerzo, whom she married June 10, 1961, and who passed Nov. 11, 2010; brother, Frank; and sisters, Joan and Alice.
Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna. The Rev. Father John Fongemie will officiate. If planning on attending Mass, please go directly to Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.
