Laraine Shaw Beach Grossman 1947-2025

BLUFFTON, S.C. — Laraine “Laurie” Shaw Beach Grossman, loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, after a short illness while surrounded by her family.
Born to Kenneth E. and Marilyn Shaw on June 10, 1947, Laurie lived a singular and exemplary life of grace, kindness and courage.
In 1953, at the age of 6, Laurie was stricken with polio and spent months in an iron lung with her family at her side. She finally came home to face the day-to-day challenge of life as a paraplegic. However, it soon became apparent that Laurie would pay no attention to her limitations. She embraced life with a joy and enthusiasm that affected everyone around her. She married, started a family and became a core part of her extended family’s dynamic, including her beloved K9 companions. Laurie lived her life on her own terms and bent and molded reality to accommodate her requirements.
Laurie was survived by Cliff Grossman, her husband and best friend, who passed Oct. 7, 2025.
She survived the death of her daughter, Kelly; son, Bret; her brother, Kenneth “Buzz” Shaw; and her sister, Kathleen Marie Croft; as well as her second husband, Dennis Beach.
She is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Peace and her husband, Dale; Richard Shaw and his wife, Donna; and James Shaw and his wife, Beverlene. Laurie was also beloved by her countless nieces and nephews, as well as her stepchildren, Scott and Dennise Beach.
In 2021, Laurie reconnected with her first husband, Cliff Grossman. Sparks flew, and they married again in 2023. During their brief time together, they wintered in South Carolina and summered in Ohio. Their final years together were filled with joy and happiness. There are no words to describe how much Laurie will be missed.
Laurie’s remains will be interred in Ohio.
A celebration of her life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Sorrento’s Restaurant.
Laurie will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
