John Carmen Infante 1930-2025

NILES — John Carmen Infante, 95, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley – Howland.
He was born June 16, 1930, in Niles, to the late Michael J. and Carmel Angeline Cipriano Infante.
John was a proud 1949 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He dedicated himself to his work, holding positions as a die setter and press operator for Truscon in Youngstown, and as a shipper for Stevens Metal Container in Niles. In addition to his primary jobs, he worked part-time at Lincoln Homes and even one summer at the Howland Drive-In Theatre to ensure his family could enjoy a vacation — a testament to his commitment as a provider.
A man of deep faith, John was a devoted member of St. Pope John XXIII Parish – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles. He was an active volunteer for the church festival and a member of the Catholic Men’s Club. John also enjoyed bowling in the Tri-County League. In his free time, he loved family gatherings, gardening, traveling and dancing.
John was preceded in death earlier in 2025 by his beloved wife of nearly 75 years, Esther Marie Woodford Infante, whom he married Oct. 28, 1950. He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph A., Anthony and Michael Infante; sisters, Angeline Rounds and Mary Gallo; and daughters-in-law, Barbara A. Infante and Deborah A. Infante.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, John P. (Cully) Infante of Maryland, Thomas A. Infante and Michael D. Infante, both of Niles, Carmel Marie (Michael) Marzo of Cortland and Faye Ann Infante of Maryland. He also is survived by seven grandchildren, Darcy (Tim) Hall, Jill (Jeff) Newman, Melissa (Andrew) Bickerstaff, Michael R. Infante, Jeremy D. (Cinnamon) Rodgers, John Joseph Infante and Sara A. Infante (Bo Marrie); as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Shepherd of the Valley – Howland and St. Joseph Warren Hospital for the excellent care provided to both Esther and John during the spring and summer of 2025
