Dorothy M. Sharp 1936-2025

WEST FARMINGTON — Dorothy M. Sharp, 89, formerly of West Farmington, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at Pruitt Health of Monroe in Forsyth, Georgia.

She was born Jan. 29, 1936, in Coalton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clarence D. and the late Jessie W. Carr Miller.

On April 24, 1954, she married Clarence L. Sharp, and they shared 39 years together until his death in 1993.

Dorothy was a longtime member of Leavittsburg Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She moved to Madison, Georgia, in 1995, to volunteer at Source of Light Ministries. She then attended Sandy Creek Baptist Church until moving to Pruitt Health Monroe in 2022.

She had beautiful penmanship and was very detail-oriented. She loved books and worked at The Evangelistic Bookstore in Warren and then in the order department at Source of Light.

She enjoyed planting flowers and had a “green thumb.” She also was a very talented cook and loved preparing meals for her beloved husband, Clarence. He was quite fond of her cooking, and when she would tell him that she just “threw something together,” he would tell her that she had a good arm.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Doug) Sole of Southington; daughter, Lola Denny of West Lafayette, Indiana; son, Clarence “CJ” (Kimberly) Sharp Jr. of Forsyth, Georgia; sister, Cornelia “Ching” Phillips of Winter Springs, Florida; brother, Luther “Jake” Miller of Cortland; brother, Edward Miller of Cortland; sister, Mildred “Midge” Taylor of Cortland; grandchildren, Cindy O’Neill, Jon O’Neill, Jacob (Carrie) O’Neill, Roberta Jo (Darren) Wells, David (Jessica) Denny, Claredon Sharp and Kasey Sharp; stepgrandchildren, Rachael (Jeff) Murphy and Michael (Chelsea) Sole; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emma, Caleb, David and Anna; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Connor, Taylor, Payton and Karlie.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Clarence L. Sharp, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rachel O’Neill; brother, Thomas Miller; and son-in-law, David Denny.

Visitation will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 2:30 p.m, officiated by the Rev. James Dittmar. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made in her memory to Source of Light Ministries in Madison, Georgia, or to a charity of your choosing.
