Carolyn Roman 1953-2025

CORTLAND — Carolyn Roman, 72, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2025, with her family by her side, after complications stemming from a short, but hard-fought battle with multiple myeloma.

Carolyn graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1971. She later attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and then Youngstown State University, where she earned her BSN. She worked at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital as a certified psych nurse, retiring from nursing in 2014.

Carolyn had a passion for many things in her life. She loved to travel — from Alaskan cruises to castles in Ireland and walks along the Great Wall of China. She loved baking, especially for a crowd or a holiday gathering. She enjoyed crafting, sewing and organizing any party with a theme that only she could think up.

Carolyn had a strong faith and is now at home with her Savior.

She never met a stranger and, after spending any amount of time with her, you were automatically on the next guest list to a party or holiday dinner.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Lenny; her parents, John and Ann; and sisters, Sally and Shirley.

Carolyn is survived by the greatest joys of her life, her children, Jennifer (Jason) Nicholas and Julie (Curtis) Casey, and Neil (Jacki) Roman; her cherished grandchildren, Jake and Addison Nicholas; loving siblings, Betty, Peggy and John; and countless family and friends.

Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her ability to smile, laugh and be a positive light even during the darkest hours is what she will be remembered for.

Friends and family are gathering for a memorial service 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, Warren. Guests are asked to arrive for the service at 5:15 p.m. and the service will begin at 5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carolyn’s name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org.
