Candace Louise Ruffo 1950-2025

CONNEAUT — Candace Louise Ruffo, formerly of Leavittsburg, born March 12, 1950, to Charles and Anne J. Rush in Franklin Township, Pa., passed peacefully at home, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, after receiving much love from family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anne Rush, and brother, Charles Keith Rush.

Affectionately known as Candy or Candy Lou to her family and friends, she was a 1968 graduate of Lakeview High School and continued her education at Youngstown State University to receive both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. She enjoyed a rewarding 34-year career teaching at LaBrae High School that started with office practice and keyboarding, and ended with computers, data processing and digital yearbook creation.

She loved to bake and was famous for her coconut cream pie, chocolate peanut butter pie and chocolate chip cookies that were present for almost every family event. While every family gathering held a special place for Candy, Christmas was her favorite holiday. She would begin shopping and wrapping months ahead, and each present was a masterpiece. She didn’t care if the recipient admired it before shredding the paper off; her love of giving made the effort worthwhile. Candy inherited her love of reading from her mother, making weekly trips to the library together and consuming multiple books each week.

She truly cherished spending time with her family and was an amazing mother to Halley and Trevor. As great of a mother as she was, she excelled at being a grandmother. She absolutely loved being Grandy! She spent time with her grandkids singing, dancing and just acting silly — whatever would make them smile and feel loved.

Candy married Larry Ruffo on Oct. 9, 1998. They enjoyed listening to music, watching fireworks, dancing and spending time at the cabin they built that eventually became their home.

She will be missed by her family, Halley (Ryan) Majersky, Trevor (Brittany) Totten, Julie Hall and Larry (Shannon) Ruffo; grandchildren, Tanis (Cayle), Seth, Derek, Brianna, Noah, Riann, Leila, Griffin and many other step-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren.

A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Bazetta Christian Church, with a dinner to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
