CHAMPION — Dr. Barbara Steines Baisden, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at Windsor House at Champion.
Barbara was born Jan. 17, 1947, the daughter of John Paul Steines and Sophie Krivosh Steines in Warren. She spent her adult life living in Columbus.
Barbara graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1964. She attended Rosary College in Chicago, as well as Youngstown State University, and graduated with her PH.D. in psychology in 1985 from The Ohio State University.
Upon graduation, Barbara worked as a contract employee for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, counseling injured workers. She also had a private counseling practice in Logan.
Barbara was a unique individual. She had a fierce love of books, being an avid reader with an endless thirst for knowledge. She spent many hours reading and socializing at “Cup o’ Joe” coffee shop in Clintonville, just down the street from where she lived. Barbara loved tending to her much-loved cats as well as her beautiful flower garden. She also had a great interest in architecture and design, and antique furniture.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Garry, as well as a brother-in-law, Richard Edwards.
She is survived by her three brothers and two sisters: John Steines and his wife, Melissa of Connecticut; Charles Steines and his wife, Sue of Chagrin Falls; Robert Steines and his wife, Regina of Warren; Carol Alberini and her husband, Fred of Warren; and Mary Lou Edwards of Cleveland. Barbara will always be remembered by them. She will be greatly missed.
Barbara will be cremated after a private family service. She will be buried in All Souls Cemetery.
