Alice Adel Rutan 1929-2025
WARREN — Alice Adel Rutan, 96, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, Oct. 22, 2025, at her home.
She was born July 27, 1929, one of 10 children, to Sam and Martha Esau.
She married Robert Rutan on Oct. 14, 1950; they shared many happy memories over 68 years of marriage.
Alice worked as a daycare owner and for over 35 years, she helped raise and inspire all of those children.
Alice was a true Christian whose example showed her love of both Jesus and her church.
As a lifetime, dedicated member of the Warren Ohio Seventh-Day Adventist Church, she taught Sabbath school for many years. Alice always had a kind word and a bit of wisdom in the most needed times. She set an example of love and kindness in all the actions of her daily life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, Sitto, great- and great-great-grandmother; always remembering every birthday. Alice always had time to listen, never judging, always encouraging. Alice loved to cook. With love, she created amazing recipes of bread, grape leaves and numerous other mouthwatering dishes. She enjoyed her visits and fellowship with her friends in the Amish community.
Alice is survived by two children, Charles R. (Sandra) Rutan of Howland and Yvone J. Shaker (Jim Edgar) of Bazetta; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Joni Rutan of Davie, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Robert, who passed away in 2018, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary; and one great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank her private caregiver, Kelly Dudley, for the love and care she gave to Alice for the last 11 months.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, at Warren Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1645 North Road NE, Warren. Friends may call 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Interment will take place in Pineview Cemetery, Warren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Warren Seventh-Day Adventist Church Food Pantry in Warren, in Alice’s memory.
