William Zylka 1940-2025

WARREN — William “Bill” Zylka, 84, passed away peacefully into the Lord on Sunday morning, Aug. 31, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Bill was born Oct. 7, 1940, in Cleveland, a son of Mitrofan “Mike” and Anastasia “Ester” Zylka.
Bill retired from Thomas Steel after 40 years of employment.
He graduated from Champion High School in 1959, where he played high school basketball and earned a letter. Bill leaves many good friends from his graduating class.
Bill was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved watching Saturday and Sunday football games, especially the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State. He loved the Cleveland Indians as well. He was dedicated to his grandchildren, watching them play peewee football and cheer, leading to high school football, all the way to college football, travelling anywhere they played. Bill never missed a dance recital either.
Bill was a man of faith, belonging to St. John Orthodox Church in Warren. Most of all, he loved his family. Whether it was talking sports or just spending quality time, Bill cherished being with his family and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Rosko Zylka; his children, Maribeth Zylka, Gregory (Helen) Zylka, David Zylka and Natalie Zylka; grandchildren, Chistopher, Joshua (Tracie), Zoe, Thomas, Jacob, Nicole, Noah and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Ella, Lily, Ava Kay and Jack; sisters, Anna “Ann” (Paul) Bakich, Olga (Martin) Zofko, Mary Ann Zylka and Sonia (Charles) Klingensmith; and nephew and nieces, Jason Bakich, Chistina Hollobough, Molly Moore, Sara Zofko, Kate Leeds and Maggie Holtzman.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Elainea.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Bill 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at St. John Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, with a Panikhida Service beginning at 7 p.m.
A Divine Liturgy will be 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at the church, followed by a funeral service and burial in Pineview Memorial Park.
