Susan Marie Safranic

NILES — Susan Marie Safranic, a loving mother, devoted sister and cherished friend, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio. We remember and celebrate her life.

Born on Jan. 13, 1955, in Sharon, Pa., Susan’s loving spirit, kindness and intelligence left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Susan came into the world as the daughter of the late Evelyn O’Connor and grew up to build a life filled with love, laughter and learning. Her academic journey saw her excel as the valedictorian of her class in paralegal studies at ETI Technical College, an accomplishment that spoke volumes about her dedication and work ethic that led her to a stellar 30-year career as a paralegal at William Paul McGuire Co. LPA, where she not only demonstrated her intelligence but also her selfless nature, providing support and guidance to those in need.

Susan’s faith guided her in life, imbuing her actions with kindness and compassion. Her family was her heart’s centerpiece, with her sister, children and grandchildren filling her days with joy. She is survived by her loving sister, April McKeel, and brother-in-law, Robert McKeel; and her children, Christopher O’Connor, daughter-in-law, Ivy O’Connor, son, Lawrence Safranic, daughter, Lisa Safranic, and son, Matthew Safranic. Susan’s legacy continues with her grandchildren, Ryan Safranic, Savannah Beers, Vincent “Vinci” Cavaliere and Brielle Safranic, who will remember their grandmother’s warmth and kindness. Her nephew, Brian Harhage, and close friends, Renee Cavaliere, Melissa Alvarez and Beth Szabo, also mourn the loss of a woman whose friendship was a treasure.

Susan’s interests painted a portrait of a woman who not only cared deeply for her family but also a rich and vibrant life of her own. She shared endless hours of conversations and shopping escapades with her sister, April, and friend, Renee. With her grandson, Vinci, she delved into the world of Fortnite, showcasing her playful spirit and willingness to enter the worlds cherished by those she loved. For her granddaughter, Brielle, engaging talks about Roblox brought laughter and joy and endless dancing performances. A lover of history, Susan spent her free time touring historical homes, landmarks and indulging in documentaries that fed her curiosity about current and past events, the world over. Her taste in cinema was eclectic and reflective of her joyful spirit, with favorites like “The Jackson Story,” “Corrina Corrina,” “Overboard,” “Flower Drum Song” and “Vacation” on endless replay. These films underscored her love for the simple pleasures that a good movie can bring. Her musical tastes were no different, from Willie Nelson to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and The Beach Boys.

Susan’s life was a testament to love, kindness, intelligence and selflessness. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her and her loving memory will continue to guide us. As we bid farewell to our beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend, Susan Marie Safranic, let us hold on to the cherished moments and endearing smiles she gifted us, leaving behind an indelible legacy of love and joy in our hearts.
