WARREN — Robert J. Futey, 74, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, of complications of lung cancer.

Born Aug. 24, 1951, to Joseph and Marcella Futey of Warren, Bob was a dogged individualist who will be remembered for his creativity, humor and resourcefulness.

Bob was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1969 and Ohio State University Class of 1973. He worked for many years for the Futey Construction company, assuming ownership duties in 1991. He also worked as a job coach, a youth leader / case worker for Trumbull County Children’s Services and at Schaefer Equipment in Warren.

Bob was known for his love of photography, arts and music, particularly singer-songwriters such as Warren Zevon and a wide variety of folk and rock music. He enjoyed writing and performing his own original compositions on guitar. Bob was a coach for youth league baseball and soccer teams and was the junior varsity soccer coach at Lakeview High School from 1991 to 2000. He lived in Warren and Cortland for nearly all of his life, but enjoyed many vacations and road trips to visit family and friends across the country.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved dogs, and a pet bird.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanne Ipsa (Albert) of Lebanon; brother, David Futey (Susan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and sons, Jason R. Futey of West Farmington, and Nathan A. Futey of Warren.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at the Carl Hall Funeral Home.
