Mark C. Mattozzi 1955-2025

NEWTON FALLS — Mark C. Mattozzi, a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, in Newton Falls.

Born Sept. 21, 1955, in Ravenna, Mark will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of Ohio State Football and his adventurous spirit.

After graduating from Newton Falls High School, Mark dedicated his career to the skies as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines. For over 30 years, he enjoyed flying in the sky, taxiing airplanes to the gate and ensuring airline safety for takeoff. This opportunity also led him to a lifelong brotherhood of friends, including Frank Rubio, Marty Porras, Willie Hoagland and Rodney Fuller, along with many others.

Once retired, Mark had more time to spend on his hobbies. You could often find him at a car show with his brothers, showing hot rods and muscle cars. He loved to cheer on his Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also was a self-taught guitar player and truly enjoyed music. We can’t forget his little dog, Geno, who was his sidekick and tiny partner in many adventures.

Mark’s life was enriched by the close-knit relationships he shared with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Holli Mattozzi; brothers, Daniel (Jan) Mattozzi and Bruce (Theodora) Mattozzi; niece, Delania (David) Statler; nephew, Anthony (Rachel) Mattozzi; great-nieces, Daci, Deena and Mackenzie; and great-nephew, Chance.

Mark was predeceased by his loving parents, Norma and Italo Mattozzi, whose values and love shaped the man he became.

Mark enjoyed reminiscing and storytelling. His stories, often told with a gleam in his eye and a grin on his face, will be retold and cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit, a blend of warmth and mischievous charm, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
