Gerald J. Vandergrift 1933-2025

WARREN — Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Vandergrift Sr., 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025.
Gerald was born March 8, 1933, in Warren.
He was a graduate of Howland High School Class of 1951. Jerry was a Korean War veteran, serving his country in the Air Force, from 1952 to 1955.
He was a cherished husband, a guiding father, a doting grandfather and a proud great-grandfather, always devoted to his family.
Jerry had a passion for tinkering, traveling in his RV and enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Guardians. He also loved bingo, bowling, coaching baseball and never missed the chance to enjoy a good hot dog.
He leaves behind a son, Jerry Vandergrift Jr. (Paula); three grandchildren, Chelsea Podgorny (Tim), Chad Vandergrift (Rachel) and Hannah Daniels (Ben); and one great-grandchild, Rozalynne Podgorny.
Jerry was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Berenice, his partner in marriage since April 1957. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; father, Clyde; and siblings, Charles and Kathy; as well as his son, Terry Vandergrift.
Private cremation has taken place, with arrangements provided by Borowski Funeral Home and Oak Meadow Cremation Services, Warren.
