Edith P. Skillman 1942-2025

LORDSTOWN — Edith P. Skillman, 83, passed away peacefully at 10:49 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Edith was born April 6, 1942, in Warren, the daughter of John B. and Pearl Mae Garvin Foster, and lived in Trumbull County all her life.
Edith was a 1961 Niles McKinley High School graduate and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Youngstown State University.
She honorably served in the United States Army and was a member of St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Saint Stephen Church.
Edith was a third-grade teacher for the McDonald Local School District with 25 years of faithful service.
In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, watching movies on the Hallmark Channel, doing word search puzzles, playing the slot machines and shopping. She cherished the time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Edith is survived by her husband, James B. Skillman Sr., whom she married July 10, 1965; daughter, Christine (Jeff) Johnson of Lordstown; son, James B. (Lisa) Skillman Jr. of Marana, Arizona; five grandchildren, James T. (Samantha) Skillman, Kyle D. (Hannah) Johnson, Morgan (Dustin) Leighty, Nicholas A. (Mollie) Johnson and Emily G. Johnson (fiance Dave Ebie); six great-grandchildren, James, Liam, Jeremy, Matthew, Ellie and Violet, and a seventh great-granddaughter expected in two months; one brother, John (Arlene) Foster of Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Eugene “Gene” Foster, Luther Foster, Dock Foster, Jackie Foster, James Foster, Thomas Foster and Pete Scott; and two sisters, Hazel Cox and Charlene Ramer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Leo Wehrlin officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lordstown Cemetery.
