Charles E. Roth 1938-2025

Charles E. Roth

SOUTHINGTON — Charles Ernest “Ernie” Roth, 87, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born July 2, 1938, in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Ralph L. and Lena P. Bucklew Roth.

A graduate of North Bloomfield High School, Class of 1957, Ernie built a life centered on hard work, love and family. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Marjorie E. Barker Roth, on Aug. 24, 1957, in Burton. Together, they shared more than six decades of love, laughter and partnership.

Ernie honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He later spent 35 years at Copperweld Steel in the Melt Shop, retiring in 1999.

Known for his strong work ethic and steady character, Ernie was a man who led quietly by example and always put family first.

His greatest joy was being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; son, Ernest E. (Mary Jane) Roth of Parkman; two beloved granddaughters, Mallory E. Novak of Cortland and Mia J. Russomanno of Southington; son-in-law, Joseph Russomanno of Southington, who remained a beloved member of the family after Marlene’s passing; and his treasured great-grandson, Joey Novak.

He also leaves behind siblings, Goldie Dean of Blissfield, Dorothy Helmuth of North Bloomfield, Ralph E. (Barbara) Roth of North Bloomfield and Thomas R. (Donna) Roth of Bristolville; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family who loved him dearly.

Ernie was welcomed into heaven by his parents; daughter, Marlene E. Russomanno; grandson, Brandon A. Roth; great-nephew, Zachary S. Finch; brother, Jacob A. Roth; nephew, Tommy Roth; and brother-in-law, Ray Helmuth.

Though his work and service to his country were important, Ernie’s legacy is best measured by the family he loved and the lives he touched. He will be remembered for his devotion to Marjorie, his pride in his children and grandchildren, and the quiet strength that carried his family through life’s ups and downs.

Private family services will be held with a celebration of his life to be shared at a later date.

Ernie’s life was one of dedication, love and resilience, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
