Thomas J. Culler 1946-2025

WARREN — Thomas J. Culler, 79, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Aug. 3, 2025, at Hospice House, with his loved ones by his bedside.

Tom was born March 6, 1946, in Warren, the son of the late Kenneth P. and Josephine M. Mears Culler.

He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1964; he enjoyed seeing his classmates at monthly get-togethers.

Tom retired in 2003 from Ohio Lamp-General Electric, where he worked as a mechanic for many years. He was a member of St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish-St. James Church, Warren, where he was currently the oldest altar server in the parish. He served at multiple parishes and was honored to do so.

Tom was a die-hard fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish; he loved cheering them on to victory every Saturday, whether in person at South Bend or on TV. Besides loving football, Tom coached his daughters and other softball players for 20-plus years at Burbank Park. He was a loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Patricia Yonkovitch, whom he married Dec. 12, 1992; daughters, Heidi of Navarre, Stacey of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Heather (Michael) Lowry of Savannah, Georgia, and Kimberly (Dominic) Lowry of Orwell; eight grandchildren, Erica, Eddie, Bryant, Hayden, Madeline, Mason, Elliette and Emmett; and four great-grandchildren, Brayson, Alana, Troy and Wyatt. Tom also leaves his sister, Susan (Ray) Redmond of Warren, and multiple cousins, nieces, a nephew and numerous friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Josephine.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where they are welcomed to wear Notre Dame apparel and colors to show their love and support of Tom and his team. The family will also receive guests 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at St. James Church, where Mass will follow at 10 a.m.

The family would like to thank the St. Joe’s 5th floor nurses (especially Heather), as well as the Hospice House staff, for their compassion while caring for Tom.
