Stanley ‘Toby’ Kosinski Jr. 1971-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Stanley “Toby” Kosinski Jr., 54, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stanley was born Jan. 13, 1971, in Youngstown, a son of the late Stanley Kosinski Sr. and Marion McNicholas Kosinski, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a proud 1989 graduate of Ursuline High School and later attended the Western Reserve Police Academy. Known to many as “Stan,” he dedicated part of his life to public service, working as a police officer for Mill Creek MetroParks and as a corrections officer for NEOCC and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department. After leaving law enforcement, Stan enjoyed connecting with people as a car salesman at several local dealerships.
Stan was a member of the former St. Casimir Church and most recently belonged to St. Columba Parish. He was an avid golfer and a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved watching and reading science fiction, catching episodes of “Star Trek” and “Storage Wars,” and following professional golf. More than anything, Toby cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 25 years, Theresa Burkholder Kosinski, whom he married Oct. 14, 2000; his five daughters, Kayla (Ryan) Weston of Canton, Jena (Marcus) Glover of Canton, Madison Kosinski (Leo Trista) of Canton, Jordan Kosinski (Austin Beck) of Austintown and Erin Kosinski (J.P. Catanzaro) of Youngstown; four beloved grandchildren, Jonah, Carter, Emmie and Maeve; his sister, Marly (Jack) Reichert of Campbell; his brother, Michael (Kate) Sierra of Austintown; his father-in-law, Ronald Burkholder of Columbus; his brother-in-law, Michael (Dana) Bodnar of Cortland; his sister-in-law, Kerry Sierra of Austintown; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his special cousin, Karen O’Connor of Poland. Stan will also be deeply missed by his loyal furry companions, Maxx, Luke, Snowball and Pudge.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a memorial service will take place at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Stan’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family.
