Shirley M. Peterson 1935-2025

NEWTON FALLS — Shirley M. Peterson went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025.
Shirley was born Jan. 18, 1935, to the late Annabelle Allen McFate and Raymond Howard McFate in Pleasantville, Pa.
She met the love of her life, Charles A. Peterson, and they married Oct. 21, 1950, in Titusville, Pa.
Shirley retired from GE Trumbull Lamp. She was a hairdresser for many years and a nurses’ aide at Hillside Hospital. She went on to the ministry as a lay minister at Warren First Assembly of God on Parkman Road, delivering the word to the sick and shut-ins.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband as members of the Airstream Club and as members of M.A.P.S., building churches across the country. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening and bowling.
Memories of Shirley will be cherished by her loving husband of 74 years, Charles; daughter, Liane (Joseph) Pinto of Warren; grandson, Michael (Mackenzie) Pinto of Bristolville; great-granddaughters, Isabella and Madeline Pinto; and special niece, Diane (Terry) Was of Edgewater, Florida.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Daniel (Kimberly) Peterson; granddaughter, Kristy Pinto-Marko; sister, Beatrice (Edward) Peterson; brother, Charles McFate; and half-brother, Robert Carlson.
Shirley was laid to rest in Champion Township Cemetery.
