Roger L. Smith 1949-2025
HUBBARD — It is with great sadness that we share the news that Roger L. Smith was called home on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025.
He was born Oct. 19, 1949, in Youngstown, to the late Leamon and Oreta Pauly Smith.
Roger worked in the steel mill in Girard until its closing, later retiring from UPMC.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and dune buggies in his free time and will be remembered for having a loving and good-humored nature, coupled with an infectious laugh.
Roger was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Josie; as well as brothers, John Smith and Jack Smith; niece, Sharon Craner; and nephew, Dennis Smith.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family, his sister, Barbara Bires; brother, Jimmy Smith; nephews, Michael Craner and Chad Smith; and nieces, Kristen Hall, Tammy Jackson, Crystal Smith, Chasity Wilson and Amy Foust.
Roger was a treasured great-uncle to Garrett Hall, Justin Hall and Johnnie Welch.
To honor his wishes, there will be no services.
