Richard G. Fetsko 1938-2025

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Richard George Fetsko, 87, formerly of Warren, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025.

Richard was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Warren. He always wanted to tell you that he and George Washington had the same birthday.

Richard attended St. Mary’s High School, Kent State University and Youngstown State University.

After graduation, he and Sandy married, and he had several jobs that allowed them to travel and learn about the upcoming data communications industry. Richard began to see opportunities, and he and Sandy moved to Atlanta in 1969. In 1982, Richard and Sandy began a “basement startup company” in the emerging data communications industry. They had both domestic and international sales. Richard was always on the search for new products that there was a need for. This gave him with Sandy the opportunity to travel the trade show circuit both domestically and internationally. They were always meeting new people and making friends worldwide; one said couple, Stan and Diane Mooney, were part of a friendship of 40-plus years, which developed and continued even after Richard’s passing.

His sweet wife, Sandra “Sandy,” passed on before him on July 18, 2021, leaving a great void in Richard’s life. They were married Jan. 16, 1965, and spent many hours together operating a very successful data communications business, which due to health reasons, was sold in 2012. This gave Richard and Sandy the opportunity to spend more time at their home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, enjoying walking on the beach and watching the beautiful sunsets each afternoon.

After the sale of the business, Richard devoted his time to Sandy’s declining health, as well as his own. Always looking for a project, he would work around the house and always have his hourly newscast going. He always enjoyed telling his “steel town” stories and those of his and Sandy’s courtship days, always telling something about their hometown of Warren.

He loved football, both playing and watching. Even in his later years, he still had the push to work out in his home gym.

Richard will be missed by his caregivers, along with his and Sandy’s many friends, especially Stan and Diane Mooney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Steven Fetsko; four brothers; and his wife, Sandy.

Friends may pay their respects 12:30 to 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Father Christopher Cicero as celebrant.

Burial will take place in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta Township.

A special thank you to head caregiver “Taffy,” along with her husband, Brian, who was always available to assist. Thank you also to caregiver Dee.
