WHAT: Township trustee meeting Monday

PRESENT: Doreen Lutz, John Nemet and Pete Augusta

Trustees:

• Are discussing the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office contract, which has been extended to the end of the year. Trustees are reviewing options for a new contract in 2026, but noted costs are increasing for the protection service. Talks with the sheriff’s office over a new contract will begin in November.

• Have given seven properties declared unfit for human habitation to the Trumbull County Land Bank for demolition. One of the properties is owned by the Land Bank. Officials said the county commissioners cover 25% of the demolition costs.

• Received a $12,300 donation from the Newton Cemetery Association to be used for replacing part of the chain link fence on the north side of West Cemetery. Hoover Fence will install the new fencing.

• Will submit an application with Braceville Township for Ohio Public Works Commission funds for work on Hewitt Gifford Road.

• Discussed flooding issues around Scott Street and the Brandywine stormwater project and amending what funding will be available to help alleviate flooding.

• Approved purchase of a Stihl pole saw at $799 from E&H Hardware.

• Announced the fall cleanup day drop-off will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20 in the township garage parking lot. No tires will be accepted.
