Marjory J. Dedon 1926-2025
LORDSTOWN — Marjory Joann Dilts Dedon, 98, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025. She was a former resident of Newton Falls and a 50-year resident of Lordstown.
She was born Nov. 2, 1926, to Josiah Bryan “Cye” Dilts and Edna Gertrude VanHorn Dilts in Plumville, Pa.
Marjory attended Georgeville School, a one-room school, through eighth grade, then two years at Punxsutawney High School. At the age of 17, she moved to Newton Falls to live with her sister and worked at Isaly’s as an assistant manager while attending Newton Falls High School, where she graduated in 1945. She started working at the Packard Electric division of General Motors in 1950 and retired in 1989.
Marjory’s interests included visiting all 50 states and international travel, spending winters in Florida in her RV, dancing, crocheting, quilting, reading and playing games, especially canasta. Marjory will be remembered for her inclusive and generous nature, fierce independence, strong opinions and chatting with everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Randa (James) Locke, Stephen Jr. (Madelen), Barry, Marna and Trudy (Mark) Mohr; nine grandchildren, Todd, Corinne, Jennifer, Sean, Sarah, Janet, Stephen, Harrison and Meredith; 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Dedon Sr.; grandsons, Cye Dedon and Bryan Dedon; and sisters, Betty Smith, Helen Byers and Barbara Brady.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
