Ellen L. Gordon 1940-2025

BRISTOLVILLE — Ellen Louise Gordon passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.

She was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Warren, a daughter of Clarence Tranter and Matilda Tischler. She was a 1958 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

Ellen married George E. Gordon Sr. on Sept. 20, 1958, and they shared 67 years of marriage. Ellen followed him in death just 37 days after his passing, a true reflection of their lifelong devotion.

For many years, Ellen served as the zoning inspector for Bristol Township, where she and George made their home. She was a lifetime member of the Airedale Terrier Club of Northern Ohio, serving as club secretary and chairing numerous committees. Ellen and George shared a passion for raising and showing Airedales, and their travels together took them across the country.

At home, Ellen delighted in watching the hummingbirds at her feeders each summer. She was also known for her famous holiday scalloped potatoes and summertime macaroni salad, recipes she never shared but always enjoyed preparing for family and friends.

Ellen is survived by her three sons, George (Deborah) Gordon Jr., John W. (Bill) Gordon and Sean E. (Michele) Gordon; grandchildren, Amanda (Dave) Mickel and Lia Ritzler; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Tyson Mickel, and Collins and Mac Ritzler. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Barb Tulanko.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Edward Becker; her stepmother, Ann Tranter; and several aunts and uncles.

Per her wishes, no services will be held.

The family kindly requests that material contributions be made to The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, 909 Martin Luther King Blvd. SW, Warren, OH 44485.

Arrangements were entrusted to Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
