HOWLAND — Charlene M. Klingensmith, 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, July 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Charlene was born April 25, 1944, in Warren, the daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth Goodhart Robison. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Niles McKinley High School.
A proud homemaker, Charlene devoted her life to caring for her family. She was known for her incredible cooking and the many lovingly prepared meals that will be deeply missed. Over the years, Charlene worked as a waitress at Alberini’s Restaurant, operated an in-home daycare and later served as a residential aide at Shepherd of the Valley.
Charlene had many passions. She enjoyed visiting casinos, watching soap operas, playing golf and sunbathing — always aiming for that perfect bronze tan.
Charlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 46 years, Gary Klingensmith, whom she married Feb. 18, 1979; her two beloved daughters, Arlene Stephens of Girard and Carrie (Rob) Luce of Michigan; and her cherished grandchildren, Mark (Vicky) Blose, Trevor Blose, Preston Luce and Regan Luce. She also leaves behind her two great-grandchildren, Conner and Colette, who brought her great joy.
She is survived by four sisters, Barbara Bissell, Ida Glass, Carol (Jim) Moyer and Linda Moening; one brother, Allen Robison; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Sue Knight; two sisters, Wilma Evans and Juanita Myers; and a brother, Ben Robison.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Charlene 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren.
A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Edward Stafford officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Howland Township Cemetery.
Charlene’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ohio Living Hospice, especially her nurse, Jennifer, for the compassionate care provided during this difficult time.
