Randall E. Butler Jr. 1935-2025

He was born in New Martinsville, W.Va., on Jan. 19, 1935, the son of Randall E. Butler Sr. and Amanda Marie Phillips Butler.

He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1953. He worked at Grinnell and then retired from Packard Electric. He enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle in his spare time. He was a member of the Cortland Moose 1012 and a member of the Auxiliary Police in Warren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Butler; grandson, Gregory Butler; and granddaughter, Amber Butler.

He is survived by his children, Randy Butler, Rick Butler and Robyn (Chuck) Metheny; grandchildren, Ryan Butler, Chelsea Butler, Taylor Butler, Ethan (Natalie) Metheny, Elliott (Shannon) Metheny and Emily Metheny; great-grandchildren, Stephen Butler, Autumn Butler, Vivienne Butler, Gretchen Hall, Trenton Hall, Charlotte Metheny and Cason Metheny; and siblings, Shirley Meikle, Wilda Jackson and Paul Butler.

To Randy’s Angels — Ashley Piontkowski, Renee Slapnicker, Jodi Harper, Heidi Napoli, Beth Vacik, Beth Hockran, Haley Piontkowski, Jenn Henderson and Diana Ontiveros — there are no words deep enough to truly capture the gratitude we feel in our hearts for each of you. Thank you for your kindness, your compassion, your strength and the love you poured into caring for Randy. With all our love and eternal thanks, the Family of Randy.

A celebration of life will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Cortland

Moose Lodge, 6400 state Route 46, Cortland, OH 44410. The family is in the care of Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel.
