Margaret A. McGinnis 1939-2025

NILES — Margaret Ann “Peg” McGinnis, 85, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Peg was born in Lynbrook, Long Island, New York, on Sept. 3, 1939, the daughter of James E. and Margaret E. O’Malley McGinnis, and came to the Niles area with her mother in 1957.

Peg graduated from Baldwin High School in New York in 1956 and received an associate degree from Youngstown State University in paralegal studies.

Peg retired March 31, 2000, from the Trumbull County Probate Court, where she was a deputy clerk in the estate division of the court for over 33 years.

Peg was a longtime active member of St. Pope John XXIII Parish-St. Stephen Church, the Bereavement Ministry, the church holiday decorating committee and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member and past president of the Niles Catholic Women’s Club and the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.

Peg found a second home at the Trumbull New Theater, TNT, where she was an active board member for many years. She also held the position of lead technical director for all the backstage activities. This included set and costume decisions for the many theater productions.

Peg is survived by a cousin, Elizabeth “Robyn” O’Connell of McDonald, and many close friends and associates.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Kathleen McGinnis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday Aug. 1, 2025, at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant.

Burial beside her mother will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
