Judy A. Rose 1945-2025

ORWELL — Judy A. Rose, 79, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at UH Geauga Medical Center. She was the daughter of John H. Saxion and Anna Lorraine Bowser Saxion, born July 20, 1945, at home, in Armstrong County in Western Pennsylvania, 20 minutes after her twin brother, Jerry.

When Judy was a child, the family moved to Mecca and then to West Farmington. Judy was a member of the Rainbow Girls and 4-H clubs focused on horses and clothing. She graduated from West Farmington High School in 1963.

After high school, Judy began working at GI in Middlefield and met her soon-to-be husband, John, through his sister, Mary, who was Judy’s co-worker.

Judy married John N. Rose on Jan. 15, 1972. She and her husband began farming in Rootstown, then Alliance, and finally Greene before moving to Orwell.

Judy was a longtime resident of Orwell, having relocated the family to the village in 1979 to help her husband start his own flower shop. She served as an advisor for a local 4-H club focused on crafts and worked at Alphabet Kaydee for 29 years while helping her husband with his floral business until they both retired.

Judy was an avid reader and loved word search puzzles.

Judy is survived by her two sons, Eric N. Rose of Orwell and Forrest H. Rose of Oberlin; her twin brother, Jerry (Barb) Saxion; and sister, Sandra Taipale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Rose; her parents; her son, John Robert Rose; and her brother, Ronald H. Saxion.

A funeral service officiated by the Rev. James Stanley will be held at noon Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Paine Funeral Home Inc., 140 E. Main St., Orwell, OH 44076. Burial will follow in Orwell Township North Cemetery.

Visitation will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the funeral home.
