James A. Polivka 1964-2025

HOWLAND — James A. Polivka, 60, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

He was born Sept. 24, 1964, in Warren, the son of Robert A. Sr. and Janet Jerina Polivka.

Jim was a 1983 graduate of Lordstown High School and a graduate of HVAC school in Austin, Texas. He was employed as a facilities engineer in California, North Carolina and Texas before moving back to Warren.

He was employed as a maintenance manager at The Avalon Grand Resort.

Jim had an easy-going personality and greeted everyone with his infectious smile. Wherever Jim was, he was laughing and you probably were too. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. He also enjoyed movies and was always up for watching a second one with you. Jim was an avid sports fan, especially of Formula 1 Racing and also enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Guardians and Cavs, as well as skiing and golfing.

He will be deeply missed by his mother of Howland; his brother, Michael of Howland; and his sister, Christine Fluharty (Dan) of Allen, Texas. He also leaves behind five nephews; four nieces; one grand-niece; and three grand-nephews.

He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert A. Polivka Jr.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, Niles, with a funeral service at 4 p.m.
