Buanna Cardinale 1936-2025

CHAMPION — Buanna Cardinale, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and care of her family on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Born to Clarence D. and Anna White Coon, Buanna was one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Santo Cardinale, who passed away in 1993. The two were married for 36 years.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.

Buanna’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her sons, Randy Cardinale (Amy) of Belleair, Florida, and Domenic Cardinale (Tomi) of Braceville; her daughter, Vickie Housel (Ronald) of Champion; her grandchildren, Blaine Cardinale (Kristen), Barbara Cardinale, Erica Thornton (Andrew) and Blake Housel; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Katherine Cardinale, Michael, Sydney and Kayla Day, and Nico and Rocco Thornton.

In addition to her devotion to family, Buanna had a strong work ethic and took pride in her career. Over the years, she worked at Grants Department Store and retired from St. Joseph Hospital as an insurance biller.

Buanna had a joyful spirit and a love for life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid ballroom and square dancer, and she found great happiness listening to polka music and her favorite band, Rudy & The Professionals. She loved playing the piano and accordion, cooking for her family, celebrating every holiday and special occasion surrounded by loved ones, and finding treasures while shopping on QVC.

For the past six years, Buanna was cared for full time by her daughter, Vickie, whose devotion allowed her to remain in the comfort and familiarity of her own home — a gift for which the family is deeply grateful. In the final months of her life, Buanna also was supported by the compassionate team at Jodi’s Angels.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Connie, whose kindness and attentive care meant so much to Buanna and all who loved her.

The family also wishes to express deep gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Harmony Hospice, whose support and expertise brought comfort and peace in her final days. A special thank you also goes to Dr. Icli, Buanna’s longtime primary care physician.

She will be laid to rest with her husband in All Souls Cemetery.

Per her wishes, services will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
