Guadalupe Schreckengost 1943-2025

Mary was born on Sept. 16, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, a daughter of the late Demetrio and Petra Hernandez Alvarado. She met the love of her life, Carl Schreckengost in El Paso when he returned home from Korea, and they got married on Dec. 2, 1958, in Cumberland, Maryland, and began their family together.

She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling in leagues, visiting garage sales, and going on bus trips to casinos with her best friend Rosemary.

Mary will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Carl Schreckengost; children, Randy (Chris) Schreckengost, Anita (Bob) Grinnell, Brian, Kevin, Allan and Jerry Schreckengost; grandchildren, Leanna (Ric) Diaz, Raymond Mattila, Sarah (Blaine) Schweitzer, Briana (Cory) Richards, Randi Schreckengost, Chelsey Hill, Dominick, Damien and Carl Schreckengost; and siblings, Felicitas Linder, Mercedes Modro and Andrea Parker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Juana Inboden, Edmundo Alvarado, Rosalio Alvarado and Catalina Watkins.

Per Mary’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services.

Burial will take place at a later date in McCrea’s Furnace Cemetery in Armstrong County, Pa.
