Bonnie Ella Pownell 1971-2025

CORTLAND — Bonnie Ella Pownell passed away at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
She was born Dec. 1, 1971, to the late Michael and Ella May Lawn Bokor. A proud 1990 graduate of Champion High School, Bonnie’s thirst for knowledge and desire to care for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She attended Bowling Green State University, where she dedicated herself to the study of nursing, a field that would benefit immensely from her compassion and expertise.
Bonnie’s professional journey as head nurse at a pediatric office in Mason spanned many years, where she touched the lives of countless children. In 2019, Bonnie returned to Trumbull County to be close to family and friends.
Bonnie’s life was not solely defined by her professional accomplishments. She was a woman of many interests and talents, particularly known for her love of crafting. Her hands created beauty in the form of jewelry, and her beautiful trees were made for all occasions, each piece a reflection of her creative spirit. Friends and family often marveled at her ability to transform simple materials into intricate works of art.
She loved playing board games, especially with her children.
Bonnie’s life was enriched by the love and companionship of her beloved children, Chase and Cole, who will carry on her legacy of kindness. Her sister, Jennifer (Larry McManus) Bokor, will hold dear the memories of sisterhood filled with love, support and laughter that only sisters can understand. Bonnie’s affection for her cat, Polly, and dog, Nala, was a reflection of her generous and caring nature.
Preceding her in death were her parents and wonderful boyfriend, Brian Placer. Their influence on her life is profound, and their memory will continue to live on through Bonnie’s enduring spirit.
A celebration of life is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Buena Vista Cafe, Warren, for family and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project in Warren and on Instagram to @feralcatcolony to send from the wishlists.
