Richard Runtas 1943-2025

WARREN — Richard “Rich” Runtas, a loving husband, father, grandfather and passionate sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 7, 2025.

Born June 23, 1943, Rich’s life was defined by his devotion to his family, his zest for adventure and his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rich is survived by his cherished wife, Gloria, his partner through life’s many joys and challenges. He leaves behind three children: daughter, LeighAnn and Craig Reibold of Leavittsburg, son, Rich and Heather Runtas of Slippery Rock, Pa., and son, Jason Runtas of Fremont, North Carolina. His greatest treasures were his four grandchildren, William, Austan, Eric and Lyla, whom he adored beyond measure. He also leaves two siblings, Donna (Larry) Geddes and Jerry (Marlene) Runtas.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ann Runtas; sister, Carol Myers; and brother, Pete Runtas.

A dedicated grandfather, Rich loved nothing more than hitting the road to watch his grandchildren compete in their individual sports. From football fields to baseball fields to volleyball courts, he was their biggest cheerleader, always present with a proud grin and words of encouragement. His commitment to their passions was a testament to his boundless love and support.

Rich was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a devotion that culminated in a memorable trip to see his team play in a Super Bowl – an experience he cherished and recounted with pride. His enthusiasm for the black and gold was infectious, bringing friends and family together to share in the excitement of game days.

With his warm spirit, generous nature and love for life’s simple pleasures, Rich touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will endure in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
