Helen Draper 1930-2025
NILES — Helen “Jean” Draper passed away at home, Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Jean was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Worthington, Pa., a daughter of the late Ronald and Mabel Vensel Lewis.
Jean was a part of the 1948 graduating class at Worthington-West Franklin High School. She worked for Kittanning Hospital in the dietary department. She spent several years at General Electric as a glazer. She retired from AVI Food Systems.
Jean spent her free time watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” She loved to read until her eyesight no longer permitted. She had a profound love for animals. She loved her family beyond measure and was always there for them. She enjoyed cooking, and especially enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with her husband.
Jean leaves behind many who love her, including her daughters, Kimberly R. Priester of Austintown and Kelly A. (JP) Rogers of Niles; two sons, Jeff (Gracie) Prow of Pearland, Texas, and Tim Prow of De Pere, Wisconsin; two stepsons, Timothy (Laurie) Draper and Rick (Mary) Draper, both of Columbus; a brother, John William (Pauline) Lewis of Indiana, Pa.; a sister, Karen Haines of Youngstown; three grandchildren; and her grand-fur-baby, Frankie.
A special thank you to Linda Rogers and JP for all of the selfless care and endless effort in helping to take care of Jean.
Jean was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and her brother, Edward Lewis.
Services were entrusted to Selby Funeral Home.
