Eleanor V. Rader 1930-2025

AMHERST — Eleanor Virginia Rader, 95, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her home, following a full and meaningful life.

She was born March 12, 1930, in Camden, W.Va. Eleanor was raised in the hills of her beloved home state. As a young woman, after her husband returned from the service, she moved to Elyria before settling in Newton Falls, where she built a loving home for over 70 years.

A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Eleanor found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church, where she cherished her time with the Silver Saints and participated in the church golf league. An avid golfer, quilter and crocheter, she also enjoyed working on word search puzzles and spending quiet afternoons watching Gunsmoke and classic Western movies. Her two beloved grand-dogs, Gracie and Taz, were a special source of joy and she took great pleasure in spoiling them.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Valerie Marie Wibert and her husband, Jay of Newton Falls; her siblings, Lewis Nolan of Wichita Falls, Texas, Karen Keesecker, Viola Bishop and Jean Grogg, all of Glenville, W.Va.; as well as adopted “grandson,” Susi “Wolf” Woofter.

She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 65 years, William Allen Rader, who passed away on Oct. 27, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Tressie Mick Nolan; as well as siblings, Jim, John, Bill, Arnold, George, Betty and Janet.

Family services were conducted privately at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.

Burial followed in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, an organization close to Eleanor’s heart.
