Donald J. Parise 1941-2025

HOWLAND — Donald James Parise, 84, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at Ohio Living Lake Vista.

He was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Warren, the son of the late Raymond and Florence Hine Parise.

Don married Marilyn Bock on Oct. 5, 1963. He and Marilyn both graduated from Howland High School in May of 1959.

Don went to work at Van Huffel Tube following graduation and remained there until the factory closed, at which time he became employed at Copperweld Steel Plant until it closed as well. Don could be seen at the Howland Drag Strip most Sundays and won many races with his 1960 Black Pontiac. He remained interested in cars and kept up many friendships he made at the drag strip, which was located on Route 46 where Raptis Restaurant is now.

Don had always been an avid fisherman and was a member and officer of the Redbrook Boat Club at Lake Erie for many years.

He served with the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, spending a year serving in Vietnam as a member of the First Cavalry Division.

Don was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and will be sadly missed by his wife, Marilyn, of 61 years; his son, David (Janet) Parise and their children, Kaytlin, Zoe and Alex; daughter, Lisa (James) Wells and their son, Cael; as well as grandsons, Nicholas, Dominic and Dorian; and a brother, Dennis (Noreen) Parise.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Donny and Daniel Parise; a brother, William Parise; and sister, Janice Kassan.

We would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Lake Vista for taking care of Don.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
