Betty L. Chapman 1934-2025

NEWTON FALLS — Betty Louise Chapman, 90, passed away into eternal rest, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her residence.

She was born July 14, 1934, in Murray City, the daughter of the late Vilas and Bertha Simpson Bridge.

Betty married the love of her life, Bruce Homer Chapman, on Sept. 25, 1954, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage together until his death on Feb. 8, 2022.

Betty had lived in Newton Falls since 1954 and loved being a mother and housewife. She was a member of the First Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher for pre-kindergarten.

Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting and being involved with her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce; three sisters, Edna, Essie and Ruth; and five brothers, Floyd, John, George, Vilas and James.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lee Chapman of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Gloria (Tom) Rutan of Newton Falls; five sons, the Rev. Ryan (Linda) Chapman of Fishers, Indiana, Jon (Barb) Chapman of Newton Falls, Bob (Lisa) Chapman, also of Newton Falls, Bruce Jr. (Linda) Chapman of Warren and Timothy (Cathy) Chapman of Newton Falls; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She dearly loved all of them.

A celebration of life service will begin with a time of gathering for family and friends, 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Newton Falls First Church of God, with the service following. Pastor Jennifer Dorn and the Rev. Ryan Chapman will officiate.

Betty will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
