Robert C. Harclerode Jr. 1951-2025

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Robert “Bob” C. Harclerode Jr. passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at Solaris Nursing & Rehab Facility in Hudson, Florida.

Bob was born July 12, 1951, in Warren, the eldest child of Robert and Gloria Thompson Harclerode’s five children.

He graduated from Leavittsburg High School in 1969 and went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at Grove City College (Class of ’73) in Pennsylvania and culminated his educational endeavors with an MBA many years later.

Bob called Northeast Ohio (Niles / Warren) home for much of his life, where he married, raised children and worked in the plastic manufacturing industry (including, Sajar Plastics and Venture Plastics).

He was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of moving to sunny Florida in 2014 where he worked in Largo, Florida, for Micro Stamping before retiring. In his retirement, Bob found joy in substitute teaching at the local school district where his granddaughter was a student. He often said the students made him feel young even when they inquisitively asked him if he was really born before (cell)phones.

Bob truly loved being a father above all else and it resonated in everything he did. He helped coach his sons’ little league baseball teams in Niles during the ’90s and could be found on the sidelines of basketball, football and soccer games proudly cheering for his kids’ teams, win or lose. He enjoyed snapping action photos with his Canon film camera on the sidelines at various sporting events throughout the years. He was a great coach who honored fairness, competitiveness and teamwork. And he taught his kids to never quit regardless of the hurdles that may stand before you.

If being a father was his greatest joy, his greatest accomplishment was being called Papa by his grandchildren. Just as he had devoted his time to his children, he did the same for his grandchildren. Papa will be fondly remembered for trips to the “Coca-Cola” store, exploring new playgrounds, especially those nearest an ice cream shop, watching cartoons, and somehow, always saying yes to his grandkids.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ellen Harclerode of New Port Richey, Florida; his children, Brian (Tiffany) Harclerode of Champion, Joseph Harclerode of New Port Richey, Florida, Daniel (Karey) Harclerode of Tampa, Florida, and his favorite daughter, Kellie Harclerode of New Port Richey, Florida; three grandchildren, Isaac, Amirah and Samuel; and two siblings, Tom (Melissa) Harclerode and Kris (Jay) Johnson.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda and Denise.

Per Bob’s wishes, no services will be held.
