Michael A. Principi 1946-2025

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Michael A. Principi, 78, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at Holy Cross Hospice, after a recurrence of cancer.

He was born and raised in Warren, to parents Joseph and Rose DiPerna Principi.

Michael graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1964 and received his degree from Youngstown State University in 1969. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

His career path led him to live in Washington, D.C.; Phoenix, Arizona; Chicago, Illinois; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Michael’s talent in sales, customer service, and computer knowledge of home remodel, layout / design and CAD (computer-aided design) led him to professionally and personally remodel and restore homes in Florida and Maine.

His partner and he retired early to spend summers in Ogunquit, Maine, as well as winters in Florida with family and friends. In the mix, Michael continued to work on home projects, “I always found that when my brain and hands worked together, I could create my vision better than anyone else could.”

Michael will be dearly missed by his life partner, Kenneth J. Small of Oakland Park, Florida; his beloved sister, Carol (Dennis) DelloStritto of Warren; his sister-in-law, Judy Principi of Canfield; and by cousins, nieces, a nephew, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In particular, Michael cherished many memories with his godchildren; cousin, Jamie DiPerna; niece, Danielle DelloStritto Mailach; and cousin, Edgar Mosco. His life brought him great happiness sharing many treasured memories with his family and friends.

Along with Michael’s parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene; and nephew, David DelloStritto.

Per Michael’s wishes, there will be no services and cremation is taking place.

Michael asks friends and family to remember him by placing an electric or battery-operated candle in your front window May 7, 2025, which would have been his 79th birthday.
