WARREN — Roy Edward Johnson, 80, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at Lake Vista Nursing Home in Cortland.

He was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert and Mae Ellen Moorhead Johnson. He graduated from Struthers High School and continued his education at Youngstown State University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Roy was a dedicated and accomplished tax executive, working for Alcan Aluminum, where his career blossomed right out of college. Known for his intelligence, Roy graduated with the highest marks and secured his position without even having to apply, a testament to his sharp mind and outstanding reputation. He was a meticulous and detail-oriented man and used his tax expertise to help others, often providing his skills selflessly for those in need.

A loving and devoted father and grandfather, Roy made family his top priority. He created unforgettable memories with his loved ones on vacations to Disney, the beach and beyond. Generous in spirit, he was always the life of the party, bringing warmth and laughter to every gathering. He was also an avid golfer and enthusiastic supporter of his community. Roy held season tickets to YSU games and was a proud member of the Eagles Club. He was an exceptional man, full of integrity and generosity, who touched the lives of everyone around him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, the former Jeanne “Sue” Norris; his daughters, Amy (Drews) Mitchell of Maineville and Dr. Lynn (Royce) Johnson-VanDervort of Warren; his grandchildren, Jared (Kaitlin) Mitchell, Amber (Bryan) Snyder, Katie, Megan and Allie VanDervort; a great-grandson due in December, Jackson Taylor; and his siblings, Ruth Hughes and Robert (Jan) Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roberta Luptak, Bill Johnson and Barb Johnson.

Friends will be received 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman, followed immediately by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m.
