Daniel R. Holinbaugh 1959-2024
WARREN — Daniel Robert Holinbaugh, 65, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at his family home after a courageous nine-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Affectionately known as Dan to his family and friends, he was born on March 24, 1959, to Robert and Jean Miller Holinbaugh.
Dan graduated from Howland High School in 1977. He was employed at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for almost 40 years as a medical technician in the Emergency Room, retiring in 2015. It was there he met his BFF, Patty Snyder of Lake Milton.
He was a member of Howland Community Church and had fond memories of his time in CYF and traveling to Europe.
Dan’s greatest loves were boating and music. He was known in the Cleveland music scene as DJ Trace Roberts. During his years of boating, he loved spending time with family and friends at Ashtabula Yacht Club and Mosquito Lake Yacht Club. He loved all of the wonderful trips taken on the boat, especially traveling to Put-in-Bay.
Dan’s wonderful life and infectious laugh will be remembered by his parents; aunts, Nancy Benedek, Patricia Sill, Patricia Miller, Sue Holinbaugh and Char Holinbaugh; and uncles, Wayne Holinbaugh and John Holinbaugh. He had so much love for all of his cousins. He shared a special bond with cousins, Amy Gazdik (Steve) of Howland and Michael Benedek (Nancy) of Sarasota, Florida. He also loved sharing stories of their children who lovingly knew him as “cousin,” Dan, Robert Benedek, Katie Benedek and Jacob Gazdik.
Dan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Ruth Miller, and paternal grandparents, Elmer and Ruth Holinbaugh; uncles, Fred Miller, Jack Sill and Joseph Benedek; and cousin, Andy Sill.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love received during this difficult time.
Per Dan’s wishes, a celebration of life will take place at a late date.
